Dread Spotlight: Walter Dix

While watching the 100 meter final, one thing got my attention other then the fact that Usain Bolt is stupid fast. That was Walter Dix, who is a 22 year old who attended Florida State University. He was an 8 time NCAA Champion and was a 15 time all american. Dix though got to show his talents on the grandest stage of them all as he earned a bronze medal in both the 100 and 200 meter race. Dix may not have won gold this year, but we should plenty more of his dreads and running in 2012 in London.

Dread Score: 9 out of 10.

Justin Phinisee of the Cowboys

Many people are known for inventing many famous things. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone and Lil Jon invented Crunk. But one thing nobody has claimed is the green tips on dreads. This is the inventor, his name is Justin Phinisee and he is a cornerback on the Dallas Cowboys. Most people would remember him as the guy on Hard Knocks with the Kansas City Chiefs fighting for the return man job. More recently he is the guy with the sick dreads standing behind Pacman Jones while ESPN is talking about Cowboys mini camp. Phinisee was taken by the Bucs in the 7th round of the 2006 draft out of Oregon. Hopefully he makes a team this year as we only want the best for the man who created the green tip.

Mickael Gelabale of the Sonics

Mickael Gelabale was drafted by the Sonics with the 48th pick in 2005 NBA draft. Before getting drafted Gelabale played basketball in France. Gelabale wanted to play in the Spanish League before immediately going to the NBA. Then he signed a two year deal with the Sonics. The thing we love about Gelabale is how his dreads measure 47" all around.

2008 AFC South draft recap

The NFL draft has now passed and many people are doing draft grades. But at shakedemdreads we base ours of how the team drafts players with dreads. Here are the winners of the draft and this includes undrafted free agents.

Tennessee Titans: They drafted Chris Johnson with their first round pick and then picked up Jason Rivers as an undrafted free agent. Need I say more? This is the 2nd draft in a row the Titans have been big winners as last year they got Chris Henry, Chris Davis and Michael Griffin.

Grade: B+

Indianapolis Colts: The Colts didn't have a 1st round pick but they made a big impact taking both Philip Wheeler and Marcus Howard. It's not surprising considering they are the team that drafted the great Bob Sanders.

Grade: B

Jacksonville Jaguars: The AFC south is officially the best division at drafting players. The Jags took Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves with their first two picks. Then they added Chauncey Washington in the 7th round. They also added Brian Witherspoon from Stillman (our favorite college team).

Grade: A

Houston Texans: The Texans didn't draft anyone with dreads but they did sign Ryan Grice- Mullen in free agency. Anytime you get a Hawaii receiver it's always a hit with us.

Grade: C

Marshawn Lynch of the Buffalo Bills

Marshawn Lynch was born in Oakland, CA. For college Marshawn went to California at california he had great stats. When leaving college Marshawn was the 12th overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Buffalo Bills. This season at the Bills Marshawn had 1,115 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. Marshawn is a great player and we will definitely see his talent next year.

Dread Score: 8.5 out of 10

Yvenson Bernard of Oregon State

Yvenson Bernard is a great running back for Oregon State. In the 2007 season he had 1,212 rushing yards. In his bowl game, the Emerald Bowl he had 177 rush yards and 1 touchdown. Yvenson was born in Boynton Beach, FL and is in his senior year at Oregon State. We will definitely see Yvenson's name come up in the draft.

Dread Score: 8 out of 10
